Position Summary

This role assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of a key system, Workday. Responsibilities include supporting current Payroll systems and processes:  tracking and detailing user requirements, technical configuration, developing and writing reports, participating in the design and testing of new/enhanced features. 


Develop and implement new/enhanced Workday modules

  • Actively participate as a member of cross functional operating team
  • Gather data and review user needs
  • Translate needs and practices into comprehensive system design
  • Draft system specifications and workflow process
  • Technical configuration of new process and plans
  • Create needed integrations and/or collaborate with IT on necessary integrations
  • Develop documentation and training materials
  • Prepare and conduct training sessions
  • Write reports and gain testing approval from the functional team
  • Provide implementation support
  • Field enhancement requests, assess scope then align with payroll on approach and priority

Provide support and maintenance of Workday to ensure optimal user functionality and technical integrity of configurations

  • Maintain documentation of applications, policies, procedures and reporting
  • Maintain training materials
  • Handle production support issues through resolution
  • Provide ad hoc assistance to payroll team
  • Reporting efforts: work with team management to set priorities, develop, test and roll out new/changed reports
  • Ensure system integrity: partner with payroll team for semi-annual system upgrade testing and pertinent weekly upgrades
  • Maintain user security in accordance with guidelines approved by Finance

Other duties as assigned


  • Degree in HRIS or IT with minimum 2 years of progressive experience; Workday experience preferred
  • Exposure and/or experience with U.S. Payroll processes
  • Proven strong logic, analytical and technological skills
  • Demonstrated experience with technical configuration and integrations
  • Prior systems implementation or conversion experience preferred
  • Self starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Demonstrated understanding of core payroll practices and IT concepts
  • Strong communication skills with a customer service orientation and an ability to work well with all levels of the organization
  • High performance and standards as demonstrated by academic or previous job experience
